Valerian ( Valeriana officinalis )

It is a beautiful herbaceous plant which is frequently found in France in meadows and wetlands. Valerian has a fibrous root and very fragrant pink flowers that bloom from April to August. The very characteristic scent of its root exerts a surprising attraction on cats who like to rub it with delight, which explains its nickname "catnip".

Valerian was already used in antiquity for its sedative and relaxing properties . Pliny the Elder already spoke of it in his works. It was not until the 16th century that it was recognized for the properties that today make its reputation. Valerian root gives off a strong odor due to the presence of an essential oil. Valerian is traditionally used to reduce nervousness in adults , especially in cases of minor sleep disorders .

Oral use Swallow the capsule with a large glass of water.

• If you are taking this medicine for mild nervous tension , the usual dose is 2 capsules in the evening with a meal and 2 capsules at bedtime . The dosage can be increased to 6 capsules per day if necessary.
• If you are taking this medicine for minor sleep disturbances , the usual dose is 2 capsules half an hour before bedtime and 2 capsules in the evening at mealtimes if necessary.
• The duration of treatment is 1 month. If symptoms persist while using this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
